To Have and to Hold

Over the weekend, I was contacted by a young lady who is getting married in June. She ordered 9 flower clips and 2 flower headbands for her wedding party. Her colors are a beautiful blue and silver, but deciding that the colors would be too hard to match, she requested ivory and black. I must admit, it is a beautifully classic color combination... and I was so excited to get this order!

The bride's flower is a classy ivory gerber daisy. I doubled the layering to make it more full and beautiful for her special day. I really like this clip, and I am excited to see it on such a sweet bride!

The bridesmaids' flower clips are fun and classic. It's so hard to take a picture of this many clips, but they are full, fun, and chic all in one! I also cannot wait to see these on the wedding party!

The bride requested ivory headbands for her flower girls. I did not double layer these as they will be on smaller heads, and I wanted them to be a smaller variation of the brides- which is also why I chose a slightly smaller rhinestone. These are adorable on, and I just know these little girls will look like princesses!

I really enjoyed this order- it's the first time that I've fulfilled one for a bride. I hope to do so again in the near future. It has made me really miss the days of planning my wedding, but I am very excited for her and her groom! I wish them all of life's happiness!!

Christmas Cheer

We began decorating a little early this year since we knew we'd be busy with Thanksgiving plans and interviews. So, last weekend, we brought out the Christmas tree- despite being sick.

Theodore was very unsure about the whole process. He had to check every little detail out.

We began by fluffing the branches. Poor Andrew had the flu the day before, so he was pretty tired. He was a very good sport though : )

Still fluffing. Luckily, this tree is pretty easy to put up.

Trying to spice things up.

Our southwest tree topper. Have I ever mentioned that my husband cracks me up?!

Battling it out with the lights. You see, a lot of couples fight when it comes time to put up the tree. We didn't fight with each other- but we did duke it out with the lights. This was our third attempt... after making two trips to the store.

Andrew hanging the owl ornaments : )

Packing the tree full of goodies.

Almost finished!

Theodore really enjoys having a cozy place to sleep.

We took a break from decorating and curled up on the couch with popcorn and a movie.

A week later, the bows are on, the presents are finished, and it's complete! Such a pretty little tree.

And, as an added bonus, Andrew decorated our lightpost outside! We won't have an opportunity to decorate the outdoors this year, but this light post is so pretty that it doesn't matter to me!!

I love having my Christmas decorations up... and I love this time of year.

Thanksgiving Blessings

This was our first Thanksgiving as a married couple. In fact, it was the first Thanksgiving we have ever spent together. We've always spent it with our families, but this year we split the day between the three sides. It was a very nice day overall!

We arrived at my Mom's house on Wednesday evening. I was met with a very special surprise... my niece, Lexi, was joining us for Thanksgiving this year! I am so thankful to Kristal for letting her come and spend the holiday with us. I can't imagine how hard it was to let her go.

That evening, Lexi enjoyed playing with her Uncle Andrew. They're pretty silly together, and she sure loves having him around to play with.

I jumped at the opportunity to have a picture snapped with two of my favorite people. I love these two like crazy!

Before bed, Lexi and I shared a favorite pastime. She's always loved reading with me... and I enjoyed listening to her read to me this time!

On Thanksgiving morning, we went to my Dad's for a visit. Since we were spending the afternoon with Andrew's side of the family, I wanted to make a point to see my Dad's side. Luckily, we arrived in time to have a delicious breakfast with them!

I was a little surprised to find out that my baby brother is now taller than me. I now only have one sibling that is shorter than me... and I wouldn't be surprised if she reached my height at some point.

Andrew requested a picture with my dad. I love this picture... my life is very blessed by these two amazing men.

Lexi played photographer and got a picture of most of Dad's side. We're only missing a couple of brothers.

When we arrived back at my mom's, we were greeted with Rori and Sky. Lexi and Rori instantly started hanging out, and they were so cute playing together!

Sky is SUCH a ham and is absolutely hilarious. This kid asks SO MANY good questions... and notices allllllll the details of that around him. He's precious!

Rori helped Lexi get all dolled up. It was so nice to see them together!

Andrew and I sat back and watched chaos take place...

You see, the marshmallows on the sweet potatoes spilled over. The chain of events following were hilarious. The kitchen filled with smoke, Mom went into panic mode, and Tyler did what he does best... add to the chaos.

After peeling off the burnt marshmallows, Ty began to brown the new marshmallows using a propane tank. The extension wasn't fitted properly to the tank... propane leaked... and Tyler's arm was soon engulfed in flames. I so wish this would have been captured on video. The girls screamed, the boys cheered, and Ty did everything he could to not drop the tank on the floor. It was hilarious... after we knew he wasn't hurt.

Once that fiasco was over, it was time to sit down and enjoy the meal. For the first time in years, we had all of my brother's kids in the same house for a holiday. I had a lump in my throat the entire time. I didn't realize how important it was to me to have them all together. I cherished every moment of this!

During dinner, we realized that it was snowing outside! So, my sister and I enjoyed time together while watching the beautiful snow flakes fall.

I love my sister so much... even though she was far more excited to know that Andrew was going to be there for Thanksgiving (ha, ha!). I love knowing that Miranda... and the rest of my siblings... love Andrew like he's their own brother. It's pretty sweet to watch them interact with him. I wish that I had more time to spend with my sister, but I definitely soaked up the time I had with her on Thanksgiving.

Then... I tried to get a good picture taken with my love. This is what happens when you try to capture a picture of us... We're crazy!

This husband of mine cracks me up. I love him so much, and I am so thankful that I married someone who can make me laugh so hard!

Before leaving, I made sure to get a picture with my brother, Ty. He leaves in a month for India. He'll be gone for 6 months or more. I sure will miss him!!

We also had to have a slice of Miranda's pumpkin pie. I swear she's the best pumpkin pie maker around!

We enjoyed a snowy drive on the way to Andrew's side. We got about a half an inch, and it was so pretty!

Once at their Thanksgiving, we celebrated Eli's second birthday. Andrew was trying to get Eli to play in the tunnel he got for his birthday. I think the big kid had more fun than the little kid!

I enjoyed helping Keith unpackaged Eli's Little People Nativity Set. I don't know if I've mentioned it on here before, but I absolutely love my father-in-law. He's so kind and caring... and he ALWAYS makes it a point to make me feel like I'm one of his own. He has an incredible heart of gold, and I definitely realize how blessed I am to have him in my life!

Once we got the figures out of the box, I enjoyed playing with Eli. He decided that Mary and Joseph needed to be pirates instead. Yes, that is Joseph manning the pirate ship. At one point, Baby Jesus was in the birds nest. It was hilarious to watch him play... and I really enjoyed getting to play with him!

Uncle Andrew also enjoyed playing with Eli and the pirate ship. We all thought this game was pretty funny.

We are so blessed to have the relationships we have. We love our nieces and nephews, and it was so good to spend time with them! We also are thankful for having the opportunity to see both sides of my family and his side of the family all in the same day. We know it won't always happen that way, but we're so grateful that it did this year!

So, our first Thanksgiving together was a success! We're looking forward to many more together!

Oh, and something crazy- I was able to put together two loaves of banana bread, and get them in the oven, in the time it took to upload all of these pictures!

So Thankful

It's almost Thanksgiving. I know tomorrow will be busy, so I wanted to take time today to reflect on the many things I am thankful for in my life.

1. My Lord and Savior - I am incredibly grateful for the life I have because of my relationship with Christ. Without Him, I would be nothing. He is my source of strength... my security is this crazy life... my inspiration... my best friend. My faith has grown so much throughout the last year, and I am so excited to see where it continues to take me in life.

2. My amazing husband, Andrew. He makes my life so much brighter and happier. He is so much fun to be with, and I love every minute we get to spend together. We are the best of friends, and our love can withstand anything. We have had our share of troubles, but we always come out better, stronger, and more deeply in love. We are not perfect, but we love unconditionally. I am so blessed to have a husband who takes the role of being the spiritual leader seriously... and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for our future! I love you, Andrew!

3. Our raising. Our parents instilled deep values into us throughout our lives. They raised both of us to be honest, hard-working, and loving individuals. We were raised to set goals and achieve them... to lend a helping hand whenever we can... and to love our Lord with all of our hearts. Thank you, parents, for all you've done!

4. Our families. We have an amazing support system through our grandparents, parents, siblings, and extended family. We know that their love for us is deep, and we also know that they would do anything for us. We don't know where this next year will take us distance-wise from our family, but we know that we will always be close at heart.

5. Fabulous friends. There are too many photos of the special friends in my life, so I just choose a few of girls that I have been the closest to throughout the years. Jen... my newest and dearest friend. I love your faith, your kindess and your strength. I am grateful for all you do! Kayla... our friendship will last forever. Although we rarely get a chance to talk, our hearts are always close. Krystal... you are beautiful inside and out. Jen and Heather... sorry for going old-school, but it was the only one I could find! I love our circle of craftiness, and I love our friendships! We've been through thick and thin, but we're still great friends! I miss you both!

6. My cat, Theodore. Silly as it may seem to some people, I am so thankful for this crazy critter. He keeps me company... makes me laugh... and I believe he truly cares about me. When I'm sick, he likes to cuddle... when I'm sad, he doesn't leave me alone... when I'm mad, he makes me laugh. He reads my emotions and acts in very specific ways... as if he's trying to take care of me. He's got a personality out of this world, and he's been such a wonderful addition to my life.

There are so many things that I am thankful for. I am thankful to wake up each day. I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds me everyday. I am thankful for the people God puts in my life... even those in passing. I am thankful for my church home. I am thankful for my ability to obtain an education. I am thankful for my current externship. I am thankful to have a roof over my head, food in my fridge, and love in my heart.

I am thankful for life.

I am thankful.

Most of all, I am blessed.
